We spent lots of time fine tuning the kitchen layout. Squeezed in a pantry behind the stairs and lots of cupboards in the small space. There is LOADS of storage... so much so, we might need to buy more pots and pans!!
The window over the sink is our view to the outside world, a way to monitor comings and goings on our little street, and a general slice of sunshine into our house.
We crafted a narrow kitchen island out of a salvaged workbench, topped with a freshly polished piece of travertine stone (the stone slab was actually once Grandmalou and Grandpabob's coffee table top). Thanks, JC Stone for the stone rejuvenation/polishing. Thanks, Mr. Cannell, for passing along the workbench.
Wine rack and pantry shelves were handmade by Heather's dad. Kitchen table and chairs are passed down from the Clark family.

We found our classic kitchen knobs and pulls at Hammond Lumber, of all places (yes, we searched at all sorts of fancy kitchen stores before arriving at this conclusion)- a reminder to not ignore your local lumber yard as a resource for wonderful home accessories! This gorgeous glass built-in was once a feature in Sherry & Herb's kitchen, and now looks lovely in the new home.

Stay tuned for install of the tile backsplash-- that beauty has such a story that it warrants its own post. It will be worth the wait, promise.
Beautiful kitchen! Can't wait to see it in 9 days!!!
