Trellis

I'm super sentimental, and this Maine house is full of items which remind us of important people.  A very special person in my life was my step-brother, Eric, who sadly passed away in 2004.  He was a talented wood-worker, and made this garden trellis about 20 years ago.  When I began designing this garden, I knew the trellis needed to find a new home in midcoast Maine.

So, the project was ably spear-headed by Kristen and Matt, and they were true professionals!  We got new pressure-treated posts, gave them several coats of Zar finish to match the house trim.  We also freshly painted the actual "Eric-made" trellis top, as well as reinforced some of the wood cross pieces which have seen better days.

Kristen dug holes with the post-hole digger.  Matt kept us lined up and level, put the posts in place, and surround the bases with Quik-crete.  We got the height just right, hoisted the cross pieces up top, and screwed them in place.

What a wonderful welcome to the Maine garden!  Now to pick some colorful climbing vines for spring planting.  I know just the plant sale...

We miss you Eric!  xo
