Bathroom

In the 1940's, when Heather's grandparents moved into the main farmhouse on this coastal property, there was no plumbing.  Above is a photo of their original bathroom facilities.  Story goes that Grandma Sue gave her new groom exactly one year to bring the house up to her civilized standards.  I think she's about the bravest woman I've ever heard of, moving her young family out to the wilds of Maine without indoor plumbing!

Our modern day bathroom challenges were far less onerous.  We selected the tile early on in our planning process-- it's identical to what we have in our bathroom in CT.  I guess we know what we like... Thankfully Chris at Tile America ordered it right up for us... and then worked miracles to track down extra when we ran out.  Thanks, Chris, we owe you one.  First bathroom decision easy peasy.

Vanity came from the amazing Brianna at Fixtures.  Her showroom is a place of dreams, and her customer service is exceptional.  She outfitted both our main bath and our utility bath, each within budget and on time.  Do visit her if you're in Rockland.

Final touches to the bathroom would not have been possible without help from Larry, who we put to work on his very first vacation to Maine.  He lead the charge on hanging towel racks, toilet paper holder, mirror and the medicine cabinet.  Somehow that seems unfair, but he insisted he loves to do this, and he was still smiling along with the rest of us at the end of the weekend, so we send a big thank you!!

C's comedy contribution this week:

Why did the bathtub need a vacation??
Because it was drained!!
