Over the years, driving to our place on the cove, we have passed this sculpture in Bristol-- why yes, that IS a moose riding a high wheel bicycle, how astute of you to notice!
Of course we need to visit this shop... gallery... barn... ok, I'm just not sure the right term. This stop was long overdue, and I'm so glad I pulled in on the sunny Friday in May. I was greeted in person by Phyllis, the village weaver. Her manner was charming, her products stunning, and her commitment to hand dying and weaving really inspired me. 
But, you're waiting patiently, asking what about the moose on the bicycle?! Phyllis did NOT weave THAT! Of course you're right, that was made by the actual onsite blacksmith. Yes, as I took a breath on this quiet afternoon, I could hear the ringing and banging from the barn, and the showroom was an impressive display of his wares.
And how convenient, as we are in the market for purchasing house numbers. Can he make those, I ask Phyllis? Oh sure, she replies. He'll basically make whatever you want. Done deal. Delighted to shop local, and amazed to meet such talented craftspeople right here in town. Visit their website to do some shopping for yourself.
