Lighthouse

Winter weekend was perfect for cleaning out the workshop, painting a few more boards (we're starting to fear that that task will never actually end) and visiting the local lighthouse.  We had Pemaquid to ourselves on this sunny Sunday morning, and enjoyed taking in the beauty of the Maine coast.

Did you know that this very lighthouse was an inspiration for the Maine state quarter?  Check your wallet and see if you recognize the likeness--  Fun fact, the quarters were released in the order that each US state ratified its constitution.  Maine was our 23rd state- what about the state you live in?  Let us know in the comments.

New blog feature this week:
P's powerful poetry

A new Prometheus, chained upon the rock,
  Still grasping in his hand the fire of Jove,
It does not hear the cry, nor heed the shock,
  But hails the mariner with words of love.

"Sail on!" it says, "sail on, ye stately ships!
  And with your floating bridge the ocean span;
Be mine to guard this light from all eclipse,
  Be yours to bring man nearer unto man!

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (transcribed by P)

Closing thought of this march post- a trio of cow creamers extraordinaire.  I believe this is what is referred to as "random".  Enjoy!

  1. Beautiful photographs of the coast! I love the light.

    Those cows tickle my fancy— are they destined to live in the new house?

    1. Well, I supposed that depends on how good the neighbor's fencing is... : )
