Past, present and future.

Frigid cold weather has arrived to midcoast Maine, all of the Northeast for that matter.  Daily temps never broke into double digits over the holiday week, but it made for amazing sea smoke each morning, and encouraged very efficient use of outdoor time.

C's Joke of the day:
What do you get when you cross a snowman and a tiger?

Lots of family in town this week, so we bunked at the Hawks House Inn.  This nearby spot is hosted by Steve Hawks, and we highly recommend his pet-friendly inn if ever you're local.  Rooms are gracious and charming, morning breakfast is fantastic, and Steve goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is wonderful.  We hope you stop in!

Our work this week involved priming and painting of trim and soffit boards, which even in the heated farmhouse basement took quite a while to dry (take note, we painted in the basement- boards which are not yet on the house- cuz, duh, no one paints outside in zero degrees!).  Not glamorous, but we got the job done and will appreciate the soft grey accent color of our exterior for years to come.

Took a break on Friday to welcome lifelong friends Jeff & Candy who were on their own yearly trip to Maine.  They stopped in to see the progress and even climbed the ladder to the second floor, despite unbelievably cold temps.

As we leave 2017, we think about past, present and future as a concept of comparing different eras in time- the known past, the uncertain present, and the unknown but often optimistic future.  We have so much to be grateful for in our past, and 2017 was an amazing year- not that everything was easy, but we are growing stronger through the journey.  We look ahead to 2018 as a year of opportunity, growth and love.
