...brought us home to Midcoast Maine. Come along!
Home is where your roots are and your heart quiets, where Christmas morning was spent around Grandma's tree, where there were walks in the woods in search of fern and ghost pipe, where the search for sea glass in elusive blue or violet sometimes produces surprises. So, when the chance arose to build on family land, we didn't need to second guess the decision. Turns out, once a Mainiac, always a Mainiac!
Family roots run deep in Maine-- from mid-18th century settlers in Camden, to late-19th century arrivals to Scarborough and Portland. So it's no wonder that when the time comes to establish our own permanent home, we point our compass Down East.
How best to establish our own spot, while still attending to job responsibilities in another state? A Peterson Design carriage house kit home will be perfect-- our design will offer over 840 sf of second floor living space, ample storage in the 2 car garage below, and a bonus utility mud room. This build is familiar to the local builder, Jeffrey Pierce Restoration and Renovation, who has put up 15 of these throughout the state, and assures us we'll have ours closed in before the snow falls.
Better seal the deal with a famous family martini.
The closely held recipe will have to stay under wraps for now-- first, thanks for joining our journey of Haven and Sustenance... more about the name soon. Until then, cheers! Heather and Beth, March 2017.
