The weekend started with our first trip up as official land-owners-- we toasted that milestone with champagne, and that childhood favorite, a whoopie pie. Ok, I'm not proud, but it's the truth. Have you tasted the whoopie pie from Congdon's? Don't judge until you have... Weather was divine, and we "moved in" our first furniture of Adirondack chairs down by the shore.
Afternoon breezes were perfect for the Carol & Steve to take a shakedown cruise on their new boat, Stormy. Oh wait, did I say afternoon breezes? They turned stronger come evening, and yup, you guessed it, power conked out just at dinnertime.
But, losing electrical power in Midcoast Maine is not at all unusual. Locals plan ahead and have oil lamps at the ready- no need for panic, light the lamps and enjoy the candle-light. Laughter abounds as new friends and dear family gather together.
Good thing we go local! August 2017
